Introduction
Meril Ãœmarik works at Tallinn University as a lecturer and researcher. She teaches the fundamentals of research and qualitative research methods and has extensive experience in conducting educational research.
Areas of research
Vocational education research, including vulnerable young people in vocational education, the adoption and implementation of vocational education reforms and changes, vocational teachers’ professionalism, and gender segregation in vocational education.
Civic and citizenship education – Meril Ümarik was responsible for coordinating and conducting the IEA International Civic and Citizenship Education Study (ICCS) 2022 in Estonia.
Higher education research – changes in higher education, lecturers’ identity and well-being.
